MARLBOROUGH, MA: Barbara R. (Jenks) McPhee, 100, a former resident of Littleton and Acton, MA, passed peacefully Sat. Jan. 5th, 2019 in Marlborough. She was the beloved wife of the late Carroll E. McPhee, to whom she was married for 59 years at the time of his passing in February, 2001.

Born in Waltham, she was a daughter of the late Albert R. and Mabel (Geer) Jenks. She moved to Acton with her family at a young age and grew up on the family farm. After their marriage the McPhees settled in Acton to raise their three children. Mrs. McPhee was a bookkeeper for Concord Oil for many years, and worked part-time at Jordan Marsh during the holidays. She was a long-time member of the West Acton Baptist Church, the Acton Garden Club, and in later years The Congregational Church of Littleton where she loved attending services. She also enjoyed cross-stitching, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and especially reading. In later years she and her husband lived in Mason, NH and Littleton, MA. Until recently she was very active in her Christopher House community, attending events and activities. She cherished time spent with her four-generation family, who gathered in December to celebrate her 100th birthday.

Mrs. McPhee is survived by two sons, William of Wrentham, Thomas & wife Ann of Franklin, and was the mother of the late David McPhee. She is also survived by daughter-in-law Carol McPhee of Townsend, a sister Hazel O’Clair of Concord, 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and extended family members. She was the sister of the late Porter, Stanley & David Jenks.

Visiting hours are Thurs. Jan. 10th from 11:30am-1:00pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. A funeral service will follow at 1:00pm at the funeral home with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Concord Rd, Acton Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Boston Children’s Hospital Trust, 401 Park Dr. Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215: online link to copy and paste:

Barbara was a dear friend and I will miss our chats together. She was my neighbor on Mohawk Drive and I visited her occasionally when she moved to Mason, NH. We renewed our friendship when she moved to Littleton and later to Marlborough. My deepest sympathy to her family, she was so proud of all of you. Wanda Null

sorry to hear about your loss. Barbara was a very talented lady. I always enjoyed her rolls at the family gatherings at the pond in Harvard. She made a beautiful cross stitch sampler of our wedding announcement when Stan and I got engaged. She will be missed.

Dear McPhee Family, When the Hansen family moved to Acton in 1954, our neighbors were the McPhee family. Through the years were experienced many events that a new community of friend got to share. We know Barbara was extremely proud of her children and the legacy they have left. I have two needle cross stitch samplers she did for us when our sons were born and I keep them up in their room. Our sincere sympathy for your loss but know that she is a rest with those who went before her and she will be missed by her sister, Hazel a lot. Joan Hansen Richards & Brothers, Charles and Robert

To the family, my heartfelt condolences for your loss. Please find comfort in the knowledge that God promises to put an end to all the things that have plagued mankind for centuries including pain, suffering and death (Revelation 21:3,4). May these promises from God give you comfort now and real hope for the future. My deepest sympathy.
