Obituary

Frank R. Cantino, 89, a lifelong resident of Maynard, MA, died on Sunday, July 26, 2020. He was the son of the late Samuel and Virginia (Pareago) Cantino.

Frank was born in Concord, MA and resided in Maynard his whole life. He was always active in the Maynard community and was fondly referred to by many as “The Mayor.” Frank always looked forward to attending and cheering for his loved Maynard High School sports teams. He never would miss a game. He enjoyed sharing a friendly "hello" to the many folks in Maynard he would encounter. He lived a long and full life touching the lives of so many and his memory will be cherished by all who loved and knew him.

Frank leaves behind his two loving siblings, Mary Holt of Littleton, MA and Edward Cantino and his wife Nancy of Colorado. He was predeceased by his brother Ralph Cantino in 2005 and is also survived by his adoring nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held in St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Maynard. Funeral arrangements are under the thoughtful guidance of Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Avenue, Acton, MA 01720.

Frankie was a true friend from the time I was an athlete at MHS until the day that he died. I had the honor of visiting with him on a regular basis at the nursing home. From all of our conversations it was clear that he loved his family, his religion, his friends and he loved MHS athletics and the town of Maynard. Throughout all that life sent his way, he always maintained a positive outlook. He was loved by all the staff at the nursing home, due to his politeness and gentlemanly demeanor. He will be missed by so many people whose lives he touched. Rest in peace my friend.

Frankie will always be remembered for his great courage, he set the standard for valor. He gave love and received it from all of the people that were lucky enough to have known and loved him. When you think you are down and out, rise to the standard and example that Frankie displayed and set for all of us to live by. Rest in peace Frankie.

I have so many memories of Frankie. Waving to friends from the corner by the Copper Kettle, having coffee at the bowling alley in Stow. Frankie was one of the guys. Frankie was an absolute gentlemen: kind, caring and never complained about anything. He always called out a friends name to say hi. Frankie loved his family and friends and always spoke well of them. Always dressed to the 9's you could always be sure Frankie had a hello for you.

My condolences to Frankie's family. He was a good man. We can learn a lot by looking at how Frankie lived his life. Rest my friend.

If more people were like Frankie the world would be a better place.
