Obituary for John Warren Kopp

Marlborough, MA

John Warren Kopp, 82, of Marlborough, MA, formerly of Maynard, MA, died on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara (Wilson Kopp).

John was born and raised in Maynard, son of the late John and Elizabeth May (Malcolm) Kopp. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Maynard H.S. He was employed as a machinist for many years until his retirement after spending 30 plus years at J. Kittredge & Sons of Marlborough and Hudson. He was a life member of the Hudson Rod and Gun Club and longtime volunteer at the Worcester Food Pantry.

John leaves his daughter Debora McLatchy of Ayer, MA; his son John Warren Kopp Jr. and wife Tonette of Elgin, OK; his twin brother James O. Kopp of Marlborough, MA and sister Carol A. Clayton of Stow, MA. He was predeceased by his brother George Kopp. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Drew E. McLatchy, Daniel McLatchy, John Warren Kopp III; 3 great grandchildren, Shelby, Claire and Hailie; many nieces and nephews along with his late wife Barbara’s 3 sons.

John truly enjoyed working, beginning in his teenage years picking apples at local orchards which he continued and enjoyed for many years. Next to his family his passion was fishing. He spent much of his free time visiting local lakes fishing with friends and always looked forward to Salmon fishing trips in New York. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 from 9:00 to 11:00am followed by a service and celebration of John’s life at 11:00am in the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Avenue, (Rte 111) Acton. A private burial will be held in the Spring.
