Obituary for Mary (Toomajanian) Bagdigian

Bagdigian, Mary E. of Stow, aged 92, former longtime resident of Billerica. Daughter of the late Harry and Esther (Shahmiranian) Toomajanian. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Simon, to whom she was married for sixty years; an older sister, Mary, who died in infancy; and a younger brother, Harry. Loving mother of David of Tewksbury; Robert and his wife Debbie of Huntsville, Alabama; and Peter and his wife Jenny of Stow. Cherished grandmother of Jason Bagdigian and his fiancée Lynsay Pannell of Germantown, Tennessee; Christine Robbins and her husband Josh of Huntsville, Alabama; Jeff Bagdigian of Bolton; and Rebecca Bagdigian-Boone and her husband Gareth of West Tisbury. Beloved great-grandmother of Noah and Madeleine Louese Robbins; dear friend of Kim Joly of Bolton. Mary is also survived by her loving nieces Barbara (Bobby) Garabedian, Louise (Armen) Dohanian, Nancy (Adour) Tutunjian, Jane Lees, and her late nephew Richard (Nancy) Bagdigian, and many friends at Meetinghouse in Stow, where she had lived for the past 15 years.

An avid horticulturist, Mary won numerous awards for her plants, which she loved tending to both in her yard and in the small greenhouse Simon built for her in their house in Billerica. She was a former President of the Billerica Garden Club and a member of the Buxton Branch of the American Begonia Society. She and Simon were longtime members of Saints Vartanantz Armenian Church of Chelmsford, where Mary was active in the Ladies’ Guild.

Mary and Simon enjoyed traveling during the years he was a member of the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists and in his retirement, including trips to Mexico, Bermuda, California, Alaska, and Hawaii.
Most of all, Mary was happiest when she was surrounded by her family, taking great joy in air filled with endless laughter, bragging about her grand- and great-grandchildren whom she adored, and savoring the flavors of the Armenian foods she loved.
