Obituary for Carl B. Leach

Stow, MA (Written by Amy E. Schuller (Leach) Carl’s daughter)

Carl B. Leach, 69, of Stow, Massachusetts, succumbed to his battle with cancer while surrounded by his loving family at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, Massachusetts. He passed on November 15th, 2019 at 11:39am.

Born in Marlborough, Massachusetts on August 18th, 1950 to the late Norman M. and Mary E. (Houghton) Leach.

A resident of Stow for most of his life, Carl started working in his teens at Stow Acres until he later moved to Key West, Florida. While in Stow Acres Carl started to figure out where his career was heading while working in lawn care and heavy machinery. He enjoyed spending his twenties in the sunshine state. While in Key West he met his wife and lifelong partner, Susanne I. Gabel (Leach). After a few years in Florida together, they moved to Spain, where they resided for 8 years. In Spain they had their two children Amy E. Schuller (Leach) and Patrick N. Leach. In 1991 the family moved back to Stow.

Once back in the states, Carl started to use his advanced heavy machinery skills to help provide all that he could to his loving wife, Susanne and his two children Amy and Patrick. He worked tirelessly for over twenty years in the construction industry with Keystone Development. Carl would go to Amy and Patrick’s deck hockey games and shout with excitement at their plays and goals. He helped with his daughter’s love of animals by supporting her interests in pets as small as fish to as large as horses. He and Anthony helped build her horse, pony and goat’s paddock and barn in the back yard of their home. He always found a way to attend his son’s Track and Cross-Country events no matter where they were. Carl and Patrick repaired and worked on an old ’73 Mustang together in the garage.

Carl loved that Susanne would always help him with delicious meals and with his everyday needs. She was his strength even when he thought he didn’t need it. She held us all together and for that he will always be thankful to her. He loved her deeply.

He enjoyed spending time on his boat on the open sea, skiing, golfing, maintaining a gorgeous lawn and most of all hanging out in his garage with his close friends. Carl had an amazing work ethic and was very dedicated to his job. He loved operating heavy machinery, like excavators, bulldozers and other likewise equipment.

In addition to his wife of 33 years, he is survived by his two children, Amy E. Schuller (Leach) and Patrick N. Leach of Spain. Amy’s husband Erik A. Schuller of Leominster. His sister Marsha J. Kavaleski and her husband Anthony J. Kavaleski of Stow. His grandchildren Hailey A. Schuller and Orrin N. Schuller. His nephew Michael A. Kavaleski and his wife Pam A. Kavaleski and their two children; Madelyn A. Kavaleski and Hannah M. Kavaleski. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Jon E. Leach and survived by Jon's wife and their children, Eleanor Leach, Glen and Kennith Leach.
