Obituary for Stuart McLeod Covey

Stuart McLeod Covey, 94, passed away peacefully Friday September 6, 2019 at his Maynard home with his family by his side. Born in Worcester, MA, he was the son of the late Herbert E. and Fern E. (McLeod) Covey and father of the late Scott Covey, USMC, retired. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Dolores Irene Covey; daughter Donna Morrissey, her husband Stephen, and their daughter Heather Nichols, her husband Nathan and their children Parker and Sophia Nichols; daughter Kristyn Ward, her husband Randal, their children Payton, Brynn and Elura Ward; and daughter Dorene Schultz and her husband Martin.

Stuart was a veteran of WW II. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and served honorably in the Pacific Theatre as an Aviation Electrician's Mate in the US Navy's LION #3, a division of the Seebees. He worked after the war at Quonset Point, Rhode Island as an aircraft electrician, then with the Federal Aviation Administration as a communications technician at Bradley Field, Windsor Locks, CT and Hanscom Air Force Base, Bedford, MA. After retiring from the FAA he was employed by Digital Equipment Corporation, Maynard, MA then went back to school to become an E.M.T. with the Littleton Fire Department, Littleton, MA. He retired once again and became a pharmacy technician at the Emerson Hospital, Concord, MA, volunteering until his heart attack at the age of 90.

He cherished his family and will be missed by family, friends and neighbors.

According to his wishes, there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. Stuart loved the family dogs, and the family suggest those who wish make memorial donations to Save A Dog, Inc., 604 Boston Post Road, Sudbury, MA 01776, also online at saveadog.org
