I met Hilli through the Air Force Nurses Society, what a special lady. When she found out I was from St Johnsbury, VT she was excited as she and her husband had a camp in the area. I was working in surgery on the trip when her husband came to the local emergency room. What a blessing to have been able to spend a little time with them. She called to say hi a couple of times a year and I always considered her thoughtfulness and kind words another blessing. May wonderful memories of Hilli help your hurting hearts.

Hilli, may you rest in the peace of the Lord! You were a wonderful, fun-loving, deeply caring and spiritual person and an outstanding Air Force nurse and administrator who faithfully and honorably served her country in time of war and peace. Thank you for your service and for encouraging me to spend the majority of my professional life in the Air Force as a chaplain! You will be greatly missed!

To all of your friends and family, I offer my sincere condolences and a promise of prayers as they mourn your loss.

Sincerely, Chaplain, Colonel Timothy A. Butler, USAF (retired).

On behalf of the Society of Air Force Nurses, please know that we are also mourning with you the death of our friend and colleague, Colonel Hiltrud "Hilli" (Spors) Houle. She was a remarkable woman who made a difference in the lives of so many in her journey though life. She was a Charter Member of the Society, and a donation will be made in her memory as requested. Hilli will most definitely be missed, and she will not be forgotten by the community of Air Force nurses.
Linda J. Stierle, Brigadier General, USAF (Retired)
