Obituary for Elliot John Walsh

Elliot John Walsh, 80, passed away unexpectedly at his Concord, MA residence on August 13, 2019 with family by his side. A resident of Concord for the last 11 years he was previously a 40 year resident of Acton, MA.


Born in Boston on July 16, 1939, he was the son of the late James and Mary Aloysisus (Hurley) Walsh. The beloved husband of Roberta M. (Walsh) Walsh, he is also survived by a daughter, Christine Walsh-Okwuosa and her husband Jeremy Okwuosa of Kennebunk, ME; a son, John Walsh and his wife Michelle of Charleston, SC; brothers, Paul Walsh of Malden, Donny Walsh of South Boston; a sister, Carol Barretto and husband Nick of Medford; grandchildren, Isabelle Okwuosa, John and Sydney Walsh. Elliot was predeceased by his parents, his brothers James, Leo, his twin Edward and a sister, Marie Considine.

A U.S. Army veteran of the Korea Era, Elliot attended both Boston University and Northeastern University, worked as the General Manager of Carl Spector Shoe Company in Boston for years before working for the U.S. Postal Service from which he retired 12 years ago. Elliot always had a love of sports, especially baseball. When he was young he was a bat boy for the Boston Red Sox during the Ted Williams era.

Elliot enjoyed reading, sharing his love of history, any old classic movie, a good mocha cake, spending time at home, and most of all adoring his grandchildren.

Visiting hours are on Friday August 16th from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton, MA. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday August 17th at 10:00am in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 89 Arlington St., Acton, MA. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, 104 Concord Rd., Acton, MA. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial gifts be made to the American Cancer Society, online at donate3.cancer.org or by mail to American Cancer Society, P.O.
