Obituary for Jack D. Staley

Jack D. Staley, 75, of Stow, MA, died unexpectedly Wednesday July 10, 2019.  The beloved husband of 42 years to Mary (Hill) Staley, he also leaves his son Brennon Staley, wife Vaughn Bell, and their two sons Calder and Jasper of Seattle, WA and his daughter Sarah Staley, husband Michael Balulescu, and their twins Elizabeth and William of Acton, MA; as well as his two brothers, Peter Staley and family of Henrico, VA and Thomas Staley and family of South Windsor, CT. He is pre-deceased by his sister, Sue Kukowski.

Born in Watertown, NY in 1944, he was the son of the late Edgar and Gertrude (Brennon) Staley, both career educators. He received a BS degree from Brown University in 1966.  His professional career as a Mechanical Engineer brought him to Rochester, NY where he was a devoted husband and father and raised his family. The family enjoyed travels to Rhode Island each summer and adventures abroad, as well as exploring the lakes and mountains of New York State in all seasons. Upon his retirement in 2011, he moved to the western suburbs of Boston to refocus on being an incredible grandfather to his grandchildren on both coasts while developing shared passions with Mary, including gardening, walking, volunteering, reading, and exploration of New England. He always provided a tremendous example to his children and grandchildren as a devoted husband, family guardian, lifelong learner, and one who approached life with wisdom, appreciation, mindfulness, and strength. He is dearly loved and missed.
