Obituary for Carmella V. (Palmer) Ford

Acton, MA

Carmella V. (Palmer) Ford, 101, of Acton died peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, June 22, 2019. She was the beloved wife of Delmer J. Ford who died in 1990.

Carmella was born in Concord and raised in West Concord, daughter of the late Sabatino and Virgilia (Palma) Palmer. She graduated from Concord High School and following her marriage to Delmer moved to Maynard. She resided in Maynard until 1959 when they settled in Acton. She worked as a seamstress for many years employed by the former Dennison Co. and the former Dovre Ski Binding Co.

She leaves her two sons, James Ford and wife Mary of Ayer, MA and Richard Ford and wife Roberta of Sandown, NH. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren, Emily Ford of Groton, MA, Caleb Ford of Ayer, MA, Moriah Ford of Ayer, MA, Shawn Burrows of Sandown NH along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Carmella remained very active throughout her life. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and making many garments for herself and other family members. She enjoyed crafts in general and could be very creative with her doll collection. She always looked forward to being outdoors and caring for her yard. She truly gifted everyone she loved and knew with 101 years of a loving and strong willed personality. She remained feisty to the end of her life with a great sense of humor. She will truly be missed and not forgotten.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Avenue, (Rt. 111), Acton, MA 01720. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 11:00 am in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Central Street, West Acton, MA.
