Obituary for Helen Jane Krysieniel (Shalansky)

Helen Jane (Shalansky) Krysieniel, 87, of Acton, Massachusetts passed away on March 11, 2019 in Cape Coral, FL after a brief illness.

She was born on March 1, 1932 in Geneva, NY to Harold and Edith Shalansky and grew up in Dresden, NY. Helen graduated from Penn Yan Academy and Freeman Business School. She met Alfons W. Krysieniel who was stationed at Sampson Air Force Base and married him after his return from Korea on January 30, 1954 in Penn Yan, NY. They began their married life in Maynard, MA and moved to Acton, MA in 1959 where their home still is and enjoy spending winters in Cape Coral, FL.

Before she was married, she worked as an admin at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital, Penn Yan, NY. After she raised their four children she worked for 12 years as a receptionist at Digital Equipment Corporation, Acton, MA and was a volunteer at Cape Coral Hospital for 13 years. She was a communicant of St. Casimir’s Church, Maynard, MA and a member of the Ladies Sodality and cooked for many Polish Picnics.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edith and Harold Shalansky and son Chuck Krysieniel. Helen is survived by her husband of 65 years, Alfons Krysieniel, daughters Karen (Terry) Breckenridge, Centennial, CO, Linda (Kip Crowley) Krysieniel, Stow, MA, Marty (Rob) Abbott, Phillipston, MA, son-in-law Brian Reed, Seattle, WA; grandchildren Alison (Tony) Hagans, Tianna (Rob) Dionne, Jason Breckenridge, Jake Abbott, Leslie Breckenridge and great grandsons Mikey and Ryan Dionne and Cope and Colt Hagans. Helen is also survived by her brother Karl (Annette) Shalansky and sister in law Barbara (Ray) Tannuzzo and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Calling hours will be held March 22nd from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Avenue (Rte 111) Acton. A funeral Mass will be celebrated March 23rd at 10:00 A.M. in St Isidore’s Catholic Church, 429 Great Road (Rte 117) Stow, MA with internment following in St Bridget’s Cemetery, Great Road (Rte 117) Maynard, MA.
