Obituary for Florence (Cherico) Duggan

Florence (Cherico) Duggan, CNA a Cambridge native, died February 5, 2019 at home in Maynard, MA surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Richard Paul Duggan, who was the love of her life. Mr. Duggan passed away January 19, 2000.

She is survived by five children and their families: a son Richard Intiso DMD of Windham, Maine;

a daughter, Lynda Monahan, CNA and her husband Larry of Hampton, VA and their children Joseph Poverchuck and wife Margaret of Lynn, MA and their children Joseph Jr, his children Violet, Conor, Evan and Vivian; Eric Poverchuck of Lynn and daughter Adele; Melissa Petrillo, BSBM husband Mark and his daughters Kelly, Kim and Molly; Crystal Neidecker,certified in childcare, of Hampton, VA and children Skylar, Jordan and Kiah; Dawn Niedecker of Manvile, RI; Tyler Neidecker, wife Katie CNA and their children Tyler, Jr. and Kory.

a daughter Catherine Gaudet, CNA her former husband Kevin and their children Nicole Copello and her children Stephen, Jennah-Lei and Gianna, all from Tampa, FL

a son SSGT Darrin Duggan, U.S. Army retired of Chelsea, MA, his companion Maryann Amos of Lexington, MA and their children Anthony Duggan of Woburn, MA and Rachel Amos, DPT of Lexington;

a daughter Michelle Duggan, RN, MSN and CRNA of Maynard;

And her step-daughter, Debra Duggan-Carter of Haverhill, MA, her former husband Hugh Jr. and their son Adam Carter, BA in English, also of Haverhill.

Born in Cambridge, Mrs. Duggan lived much of her life in Woburn, MA. In early years she studied at a beauty school in Cambridge, then worked at Joyce Chen as a waitress. Ms. Chen took her under her wing, and Mrs. Duggan learned to cook Asian cuisine.

When her children were born Florence became a stay at home mom, and only when they were older she worked mother's hours for the Woburn school department so she could still be home for them.

After her retirement, the Duggans moved to Maynard and Mrs. Duggan was proud to spend over 20 years caring for others in their homes as a private caregiver. She had a love of cooking and hosting parties, especially summer parties outdoors at her Woburn home. Talented in many areas, Mrs. Duggan also enjoyed to crochet and knit, creating many items for her family and friends through the years.

In 2005 she met the second love of her life, Jack McHugh, Sr. of Billerica, and together they traveled the world. Jack passed Easter of 2016. All three, Florence, Richard and Jack will be sadly missed by family and friends.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday February 15th at 9:00am in St. Bridget's Church, 1 Percival Street, Maynard. Following the Mass, all are invited to meet in St. Michael's Cemetery, 500 Canterbury Street, Boston for graveside services at 11:30am.
