Obituary for Mary A. (Tervo) Quinn

Mary A. (Tervo) Quinn, 77, of Lancaster, MA, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 24, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

Mary leaves her husband of 55 years, Thomas David Quinn as well as her four sons, Kevin Jon Quinn, Thomas Edward Quinn and his wife Katie, Randolph Quinn and his wife Terri and Robert Francis Quinn and his wife Hilaire. She also leaves three loving grandchildren, Kenneth Quinn and his wife Fi and Haley and Ian Quinn. She is also survived by her three sisters, Barbara Maglione, Loraine Adler and Donna Antonelli as well as her brother Reino Tervo. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mary was born in Newton, MA, daughter of the late Reino and Mary (Forsyth) Tervo. She was raised in Stow, MA attending local schools and was a graduate of Hale High School in Stow. She received her Nursing Degree from the Deaconess Hospital Nursing Program in Boston. Later in life, Mary took courses at University of Massachusetts in Lowell earning her Nurse Practitioner’s Degree. Mary worked for 28 years at Emerson Hospital, spending 25 years working out of Dr. Lea’s office at the hospital. She was the first Registered OB/GYN Certified Nurse Practitioner at Emerson Hospital. She retired from nursing in 2013. For many years Mary taught Childbirth Classes at her home in Bolton and at the Hospital in Ayer, MA. Working with new mothers to be was her passion.

She and her husband Tom for many years raised Pekinese puppies; there were always countless furry friends in Mary’s life.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave., Acton, MA. A funeral service and celebration of life will be held on Friday, Nov. 30, 2018 at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Maynard, MA
