It is with great sadness that the family of John Fisher Di Cristina announces his unexpected passing on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at the age of 57 years. John died surrounded by his family.

John is lovingly held in the hearts of his devoted wife of 34 years, Carolyn (Degnon) Di Cristina, and his son Andrew and partner Katrina Jost, son Benjamin, daughter Jessica and partner Martis LaPointe III, and his grandson Jaden. John is fondly remembered by his parents Victor and Geraldine (Fisher) Di Cristina. He is survived by four siblings: his brother Mark Di Cristina and wife Brooke, his brother Paul Di Cristina and partner Jeanette Maria, his sister Jane Di Cristina and husband Jim Laughlin, and his sister Kathryn (Di Cristina) Makaroff and husband Loyal. He is survived by his aunt Marie (Fisher) Lee, his aunt Ann (Fisher) McCabe, his aunt and uncle Henry and Barbara Di Cristina, as well as extended family Lynne (Dombrowski) Di Cristina and Chris Burleson.

John will be sadly missed by his sister-in-law Amanda Irwin and husband Ross, brother-in-law Peter Degnon and partner Dawn Sletta, and sister-in-law Martha Degnon and partner Anthony Delmonaco. He is survived by father-in-law Dom Degnon and wife Catherine, and mother-in-law Joan (Kneedler) Duffy and partner William Deane. John is affectionately remembered by 13 nieces and nephews: Mark, Benjamin, and Michael Di Cristina, Garrison, Mila, and Camille Inge, Shane Di Cristina, Heather and Colin Irwin, Léal, Caelen, and Elya Makaroff, and Luke Burleson. John is survived by seven grandnieces and grandnephews. He is also remembered by 10 first cousins in the Di Cristina, McCabe, and Lee families, and cousins-in-law in the Kneedler family.

John graduated from Lynnfield High School. He attended Georgia Institute of Technology, receiving Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering in 1984. John began his life-long professional career as an Electrical Engineer at GTE Corporation. He also worked for Digital Equipment Corporation, Quantum Corporation, MediSense, Inc., and Abbott Laboratories. John’s career culminated with 20 years of distinguished service to Maxim Integrated, as well as the award of two patents. John’s purposeful work ethic and passion for health and well-being led him to focus on global product definition, and the design and strategic marketing of components for medical devices, including glucose meters and ultrasound equipment. John was known for his keen knowledge of the medical market, his genuine integrity and loyalty, resourceful problem-solving, kind mentoring, and collaborative work with colleagues.

John treasured time kayaking and birdwatching on Thompson Lake in Maine. He was an avid distance runner, and enjoyed woodworking, cooking, music, biking, golf, and visits to Italy, Prince Edward Island, and Chatham on Cape Cod. A man of devoted Christian faith, John’s values were lived out through worship, prayer, friendship, and acts of service. He loved his family deeply and was giving of his time and talents to uplift others. John is remembered for his dependability, humility, clever humor, forgiving heart, acts of protection, and loyalty to others. John was a loving husband and son, a devoted father and grandfather, a caring brother and uncle, a good citizen, and a faithful friend.

Visitation is Thursday, November 8th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave., Acton. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, November 9th at 11:00 AM at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 472 Massachusetts Ave., Acton. A private committal service for disposition will be held at a future date.
