Obituary for Richard P. Bonzagni

Richard (Dick) Paul Bonzagni, 71, a resident of Acton for 40 years, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side after a long battle with graft-versus-host disease, following a stem cell transplant for a rare lymphoma on October 8, 2018. He leaves his loving wife of 46 years, Sandra M. (Asplund) Bonzagni.

Born in Boston on February 26, 1947 to the late Frank V. and Thelma (Malatesta) Bonzagni, he was raised in Arlington, attended Arlington Public Schools, did his undergraduate studies in electrical engineering at Tufts University and received his MBA from Boston University.

Richard served in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam Era. He was a retired technology marketing and sales professional who later in life taught middle-school children who struggled with math. He enjoyed singing with The Sounds of Concord, the Concord Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, as well as playing the guitar.

Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Marshall and her husband Charles of San Francisco, CA and Lauren Tajima and her husband Aaron of Westford; his sister Gail Marmer of Concord; and five grandchildren, Dominic and Noemi Marshall, Grant, Simon and Audrey Tajima.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 12 from 5:00 to 8:00pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave. (Rte 111), Acton. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 1:00pm at the Parish Center For The Arts, 10 Lincoln St., Westford.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dick may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, specify for Lymphoma research or Graft vs. Host Disease, www.danafarber.org; and Be the Match, a nonprofit dedicated to curing blood cancers.
