Obituary for Margaret L. "Peggie" (O'Neal) Brenn

Margaret L. (O’Neal) Brenn, affectionately known as “Peggie,” died peacefully Tuesday September 25, 2018 at the LifeCare Center in Littleton, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Brenn, who passed away in 1982.

Born in Newton, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Eunice (Marshall) O’Neal, and was the sister of the late Elizabeth Lockhart and Magretta Wilson. Following their marriage the Brenns lived in Allston before moving to Sudbury in the early 1950s, then to Maynard in the 1960s. Mrs. Brenn worked hard throughout her life. In early years she devoted days to her family and worked evenings waitressing. Later she was a longtime line supervisor for H.H. Scott and Data Terminal Systems before retiring.

Mrs. Brenn enjoyed needlework and especially love crocheting Christmas angels for family and friends. She also liked time spent doing crosswords, jigsaw puzzles and playing Bingo. She will be remembered for her dedication to her loved ones, her strong will and feisty spirit, and her sense of humor and sweet-tooth. She will be deeply missed by all.

Mrs. Brenn is survived by her children, Constance Foster, Robert Brenn, Dennis Brenn and Marjorie LeSage. She was the mother of the late Ronald Brenn and Donna Marie Hickey. She is also survived by her daughters-in-law Judy Casalinuova and Kathy Brenn, 4 generations of grandchildren and their families, as well as a large extended family.

Visiting hours are Sunday September 30th from 2:00-5:00 P.M. at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. A funeral service will be held at 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home following the visiting hours. Graveside services will be held Monday October 1st at 11:00 A.M. in New Town Cemetery, 357 Concord Road, Sudbury. Lt. Daniel Joseph Kauppi
February 22, 1965 ~ September 27, 2018


Lt. Daniel Joseph Kauppi, 53 died peacefully at Ocean Springs Hospital on Thursday, September 27, 2018. Dan was severely injured in an auto accident in April and had been undergoing extensive therapy at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta for the last 4 months.

Daniel was born in Concord, MA on February 22, 1965 and was raised in Maynard, MA. He came to the Mississippi Gulf Coast as a crew member of the USS John Rogers in 1984 and shortly thereafter, he met and married his wife of 33 years Laurie (Materna) Kauppi. He lived in Gautier most of his life were he raised 3 children and worked for the GFD.

He was a loving father who enjoyed coaching ball when his children were young, visiting with friends and family, playing darts, pool, and singing
karaoke. He was incredibly hardworking and loved to fish, boat, and
anything outdoors. Dan had a great sense of humor and enjoyed having fun. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was proceeded in death by his beloved son, Christopher Kauppi,
his mother Donna Hickey, stepdad Jack Hickey, father Peter Kauppi,
grandparents Mary and Joe Thomas and his adored grandmother
Margaret L. (O’Neal) Brenn.

He is survived by his wife Laurie( Materna) Kauppi, daughter Hannah (George) Buckley of Lucedale, his son Joseph Kauppi, his sisters Linda
Kauppi and Jana (Jason) Murray. He was a fun and doting “Papa” to 4
grandchildren; Bryston, Hailee, Kayston, and Easton Buckley. Also survived by nephews Zachary (Amanda) Brought, Joshua (Emma) Brought and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and great friends. He also leaves behind his great friend (brother) Fred Mineo.

Visitation will be Sunday September 30, 2018 at Gautier O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home from 1:00-3:00 pm followed by funeral service at 3:00pm in the chapel. Condolences may be expressed online at www.obryantokeefe.com.
