Obituary for Paul H. Jaehnig

BOXBOROUGH: Paul H. Jaehnig, 92, a Boxborough, MA resident for almost 60 years, died peacefully Sat. Sept. 22, 2018 in Marlborough. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lillian A. (Brennan) Jaehnig; their children, Paul J. of CT, Leo of TX, Marie of GA & Patricia of MD; his grandchildren David, Stephen, Michael, Dee, Philip and Maggie; great-grandchildren Alice and Scarlett; a sister Rita Pistone of FL and a brother, Arthur Jaehnig of Quincy; and in-laws, nieces, nephews & their families. He was the brother of the late Charles Jaehnig.

Born in Dorchester and raised in Jamaica Plain, he was the son of the late Arthur J. and Frances (Sullivan) Jaehnig. He graduated from technical high school and was first employed at Maritime Welding in Allston. He enlisted in the US Navy during WWII, serving honorably aboard the USS Aquila, USS YMS-307 and USS Truxtun, and later on the USS Fort Mandan and USS Mellette during the Korean War. Following his service Mr. Jaehnig worked for New England Telephone and Burroughs Corp., and earned a degree in business from Boston College. He then went into business for himself, establishing two companies- Acton Telephone and Suburan Real Estate. Paul was active in the Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus. He participated in veterans' activities and the occasional re-enactments as a Minuteman. The family lived in Waltham for a time before moving to Boxborough. Mr. Jaehnig especially enjoyed time spent with his family in Wells, Maine and Newfound Lake, NH, and Paul and his wife traveled to many parts of the world in later years.

Visiting hours are Fri. Sept. 28th from 3-6 P.M. at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Sat. Sept. 29th at 10 A.M. in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 89 Arlington St., Acton. Burial with US Navy honors will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, 104 Concord Rd, Acton Ctr.
