Obituary for Peter J. Pronko

Peter J. Pronko, 97, of Maynard and Acton, MA died Monday September 10, 2018 at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, MA. He was the beloved husband of 72 years to Eloise C. (Odom) Pronko, who passed away December 26, 2017.

Born and raised in Maynard, he was the son of the late Peter and Stella (Yanuskivich) Pronko, and was also predeceased by his sister, Delia Nee. Mr. Pronko served honorably as a Sergeant in the US Army Air Force 80th Air Depot Group during WWII. A graduate of Bentley College, he was employed by Raytheon for 32 years and was a cost proposal manager at the time of his retirement. He and his wife, Eloise, enjoyed their worldwide travels and fun trips to casinos. A devout Catholic, he was a member of the Holy Name Society and active member of the former St. Casimir’s Church in Maynard. He and his family especially loved the annual Polish Picnic. In recent years he was a communicant at St. Bridget’s Parish in Maynard. He was a lifelong Maynard resident before moving to Robbins Brook in Acton two years ago.

He is survived by his sons, Peter J. Pronko III and wife Andrea of Maynard, an James E. Pronko and his wife Janice M. of Holliston; 5 grandchildren, Peter IV, Kristen, Eric, Caitlyn and Joy; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours are Thursday September 20th from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Avenue (Rte 111) Acton. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday September 21st at 10:00 A.M. in St. Bridget’s Church, 1 Percival Street, Maynard, with burial following in Glenwood Cemetery, Great Road (Rte 117) Maynard.
