Obituary for Edward T. Thomas ""Gal"" Gallagher, Jr.

MAYNARD: Edward T. Gallagher, Jr., 82, a lifelong Maynard resident, died unexpectedly Friday July 6, 2018 at his home. Born in Brighton, he was the only child of the late Edward T. Sr. and Victoria R. (Lankiewicz) Gallagher. He was affectionately known as "Gal" to his surviving cousins; the Ballard, Bell, Hysaw, Lankiewicz and Rymza families.

Ed graduated from Maynard High School where he enjoyed playing sports and was an excellent baseball player. He served honorably as a radio operator in the US Army from 1957-59, including time stationed at Pearl Harbor. He loved his time in Hawaii and often thought of returning. Ed was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service in Acton for 38 years before retiring. He was a lifelong parishioner of the former St. Casmir's Church in Maynard where he was an usher. Ed was a sports fan and especially liked watching baseball. He enjoyed visits with his family and many friends, and knew everything that was going on around town.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday July 13th at 10:00am in St. Bridget's Church, 1 Percival Street, Maynard, with burial following in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Great Road (Rte 117) Maynard. In accordance with his wishes there are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Remembering Maynard's Own, PO Box 268, Maynard, MA 01754.
