Obituary for Neal James Meakin

Neal James  Meakin
Hudson, MA

Neal James Meakin, 61, a long time resident of Hudson, MA, formerly of Maynard, MA died on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Marlborough Hospital. He was the son of the late James R. Meakin and leaves his mother, Joan (MacLachlan) Meakin of Maynard, MA along with his wife Antoinette "Toni" (Chartrand) Meakin of Leominster, MA.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late James R. Meakin and is survived by his mother, Joan (MacLachlan) Meakin of Maynard, MA. He was raised in Maynard where he attended local schools and was a 1974 graduate of Maynard High School. Neal resided in Hudson for 19 years and was a finish carpenter by trade working locally for many years.

Besides his mother, Neal leaves his wife, Antoinette "Toni" (Chartrand) Meakin of Leominster, MA; his brother, Gary Meakin and wife Barbara of New Hampshire; his sister, Joan Tyler and husband Leon of Maynard, MA along with his nieces and nephews, Whitney and Andrew Meakin and Lauren, Bennett, James and Joey Tyler. He is also survived by his step-daughter, Amanda Westcott and husband Anthony of New Hampshire and many other relatives and close friends.

Neal was an avid Red Sox and Patriot’s fan. He enjoyed playing hockey and baseball and always looked forward to spending a summer’s day at the family pool with his friends as a youth. He cherished his times as a member of a popular local country western band, “Damn Yankees” and had many memorable moments with the group. He truly loved being with his family and always looked forward to family events and vacations. His unique personality and loving and caring spirit will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Family and friends may attend visiting hours on Friday, July 6, 2018 from 9:00-10:30am at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rt 111) Acton. A funeral mass will follow on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 11:00am in St. Bridget’s Church, 1 Percival Street, Maynard, MA. Committal services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
