You very generously invited me to go skiing with you when I was dating Blaise. We went to North Star in Lake Tahoe. I had never skiied before. I remember that you guys were very kind and generous and took me to buy ski boots. I was so touched by your generosity. I had one ski lesson with all the little kids who made it look so easy- they got on the skis and started racing around like it was nothing. I was not so natural at the sport. But after that one lesson- Blaise and Floyd thought I was ready for intermediate and sometimes black hills. There was a lot of crashing into trees, wiping out, and crying. I even fell off the chair lift but thankfully Floyd didn't make it seem as horrifying and embarassing as I thought it was. I foolishily followed Floyd and Blaise everywhere and found myself at the top of this black hill- steep with huge moguls everywhere. Blaise thought it looked awesome and before I knew it, he was at the bottom of the hill. He had just flown down the hill, bopping around the moguls like it was nothing; while I still stood at the top of the mountian thinking I was about to die. I know that Floyd could have whizzed down that mountain just as easily as Blaise but he stayed with me, skiing behind me, encouraging me to traverse the mountain as much as I could and then helping me to turn around the moguls when it became necessary to turn or fly off the side of the mountain. He was so patient and kind and thank goodness he did not leave me up there all alone. Then after a long day on the mountain, always having to catch the last chair lift up at closing time, we would sit by the fire in a nice restaurant or hang out at the lodge- always talking and laughing. Despite the fear of skiing for the first time, that was a really fun trip.
