Obituary for Nancy H. (Murray) Rogers



Nancy H. (Murray) Rogers, 75, a Fitchburg, MA resident for the past 20 years and formerly of Maynard, MA, died peacefully Saturday, June 9, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving husband and children. She and her husband Dennis E. Rogers, celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary on April 15th.

Born in Walpole, NH and raised in Somerville, MA, she was one of 13 children of the late Robert M. and Helen (Parry) Murray. Following their marriage, the Rogers settled in Maynard where they lived for 25 years and raised their 5 children. Nancy was the first female welder at the General Motors plant in Framingham in the 1970s, and later worked in food services. The Rogers centered their lives around their family and loved spending time together sharing hobbies including birdwatching and long car rides to coastal Maine. With her home’s open door policy, she was “Ma” and “Grammy” not only to her children and grandchildren, but also to friends and neighbors. Their family pool was the epicenter of many holidays and birthday celebrations and she loved family card games with her brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. Nancy was caring and generous to all.

In addition to her husband she is survived by three children; Priscilla Panos and husband George, Michael Rogers and wife Lisa, and Heidi DeLuco and husband David. She was predeceased by two daughters, Lisa Scesny and Abigail Rogers. She was a loving Grammy to Thomas and Bryan Scesny, Stephen and Ryan Panos, Cameron, Lauren and Olivia DeLuco, and Alex Quirk and great-grandchildren Isabella Scesny, Madison and Alecko Panos; and many nieces, nephews and their families. She was the sister of Robert Murray, Blanche Bellevue, Carolyn Varone, Annie Collins, Una Zousimas, Thomas Murray, Jane Spano and the late Richard Murray, Janet Anderson, Patricia Eldridge James Murray and Michael Murray.

Visiting hours are Friday June 15th, 2018 from 4:00 - 8:00pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. The funeral service will be Saturday June 16th at 1:00pm at the funeral home with interment at a later date.
