Heather A. (Harriman) Morse, a 20 year resident of Shirley, MA, formerly of Acton and Ayer, MA passed away Monday, June 4, 2018 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after battling cancer since her diagnosis in 2006. 49 years young, she and her husband Tom celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary on May 10th. She is also survived by their three sons, Cody, Bailey and Casey all of Shirley; a brother David Harriman of Schenectady, NY, and a large extended network of family and friends.

Born in Concord, she was the daughter of the late Frederick L. Harriman Jr. & the late Nancy (Rogers) Harriman. She grew up in Acton and Ayer and was a graduate of the Ayer schools. Heather earned an associate’s degree from Fisher College and owned a home day care business for many years. She also enjoyed working at Gibbet Hill Barn in Groton, and as a special education teacher.

Through the years Heather did a lot of fundraising to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation. She walked the 60-mile three-day event nine times, including walks in Boston, Philadelphia and San Diego, one of which was during a round of chemotherapy. When she wasn’t walking she volunteered on the support crew. She spoke to countless groups, including the Girl Scouts, to raise awareness about breast cancer and the benefits self-examination and early detection. Heather loved riding her own Harley Davidson motorcycle, camping, and the ocean’s salty air. She cherished time spent with family and friends, and especially her three sons.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 9th at 1:00pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery in West Acton, MA will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Go Fund Me page, https://www.gofundme.com/heatheramorse.
