Obituary for Maria Teresa (Olohan) Flanders

Maria Teresa (Olohan)   Flanders
Maria Teresa Flanders, 39, of Burlington, Connecticut, entered into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, April 14, 2018. She is survived by her loving husband, David Flanders; their children: Ryan, Zachary, Bella, and David Flanders; her mother, Catherine Olohan of Stow, MA; five brothers: William Olohan and wife Michelle, Thomas Olohan and wife Jane, Daniel Olohan and wife Mary Kate, John Olohan and wife Molly, Ryan Olohan and wife Anne; her sisters: Catherine Kelly and husband William, Sheila Beirne and husband Gerard, Margaret Sweatman and husband Thomas; and many nieces and nephews. Maria was predeceased by her father, William Olohan, her brother Michael Olohan, and niece Sheila Catherine Beirne.

Maria was born March 22, 1979, in Worcester, MA, and spent her formative years in Stow, MA. Always vivacious, passionate, and beautiful, with artistic sensibilities, Maria brought humor and laughter into every gathering. A uniquely gifted musician and vocalist, Maria majored in music at Providence College. She shared her vocal gifts in the theater and through performances at weddings and other venues to include as a cantor where she was renowned for magnificent performances of sacred liturgical compositions. Her renditions of Irish ballads brought her Irish father and family tremendous joy and pride. Maria was a beloved Performing Arts teacher in the towns of Stow and Berlin, MA, and later at the Wellesley Middle School in Wellesley, MA.

Maria is greatly loved and dearly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 23, at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, l Percival Street, Maynard, MA, with burial to follow in St. Bridget’s Cemetery, Great Road, Maynard. There are no funeral home visiting hours.
