Catherine Agnes (Doherty) Higden, 92, an Acton, MA resident for many years, died Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Life Care Center of Acton with family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 56 years to the late Albert Lloyd Higden.

Born in Arlington, Catherine was the daughter of the late William and Catherine (Potter) Doherty. She worked as a secretary early in her career and after the birth of her son became a dedicated, loving homemaker.

Athletic in her youth, Catherine golfed, skied and skated. She was an avid, lifelong Red Sox fan and enjoyed cooking, needlepoint and gardening. She was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in Acton and St. Isidore Church in Stow.

Catherine is survived by her son Mark A. Higden and his husband Peter Edmonston of New York, NY and her sister Mary Ruane. She was predeceased by her parents and 3 brothers, William, James and Bernard Doherty.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 14th at 10:00am in the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave. (Rte 111), Acton, followed by burial in Mt.
