Obituary for Robert W. Kendall

ACTON, MA - Robert W. Kendall, 82, a lifelong Acton resident, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Emerson Hospital in Concord. He was the husband of Mary Elizabeth “Mary Lee” (Barrett) Kendall.

Born, raised and educated in Acton, he was one of five sons of the late William S. and Laonie (King) Kendall. He served in the National Guard and was a former mechanic foreman with the Acton Highway Department where he worked for 24 years. After his retirement he worked another 12 years for Lenox Landscaping in Acton.

He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast and avid rider who also enjoyed hunting and trap shooting. He was a lifetime member of the Nashoba Sportsman Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Gregg M. Kendall, Brian R. Kendall and wife Amy; 7 grandchildren, Robert III, Rebecca, Cory, Dillon, Benjamin, Erin Kendall and Lauren Whitman; 4 great grandchildren, Shawn Whitman, Ethan, Owen and Finnegan Kendall; brothers Richard G. and John F. Kendall; also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his oldest son Robert W. Kendall, Jr.; his brothers, Leonard A. Kendall and William S. Kendall, Jr. in addition to his parents.

Visiting hours are Tuesday, April 17th from 5:00-8:00pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave, (Rte 111) Acton. Funeral Mass in St. Bridget’s Church, 1 Percival St., Maynard on Wednesday, April 18th at 10:00am, followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Concord Road, Acton Center.
