Maria C. (Rivera) McKennedy, 70, a longtime resident of Maynard, MA, died on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA.
Maria leaves her husband of 15 years and companion of over 30 years, Michael J. McKennedy of Maynard, MA along with her two sons, Brian Connerney and wife Shana and Christopher Connerney, both of Maynard, MA. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Hannah and Patrick Connerney and many friends.
Maria was born and raised in Naranjito, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Macario and Maria (Sanchez) Rivera. She resided in Puerto Rico until moving to Maynard in 1970 following her marriage to her first husband the late Joseph C. Connerney. She spent many years as an employee of the Digital Equipment Corp. in Maynard and most recently was employed as a dental assistant at Operation Healthy Smile, Inc. in Marlborough until her retirement in 2016.
Maria was an avid baseball fan and always looked forward to watching the Red Sox. Car racing was another sport she always enjoyed watching. Her most cherished times where always with her family, especially later with her grandchildren. Frequent vacations to Puerto Rico were always appreciated by both her and Michael. Her kind and loving spirit will be cherished by all who loved and knew her.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Thursday April 12th from 4:00-8:00pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rt 111) Acton. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday April 13th at 8:30am in St. Bridget’s Church, 1 Percival St., Maynard, with burial following in Glenwood Cemetery, Great Road (Rt 117) Maynard.
