On behalf of the Acton Conservation Trust we were especially delighted that last year we recognized Brewster's enormous service to ACT, to land protection, and the community with the Carol Holley Conservation Volunteer award. Brewster was the epitome of what this award represents - getting involved in his community to protect the environment. He made countless contributions including being a Trustee of ACT since 1990. In addition, he has served on the Conservation Commission, the Cemetery Commission, Acton Arboretum, Garden Club, Acton Historical Society, Acton Water District Finance Committee, and has donated land to the Acton Water District for the Conant well. He attended our last Board of Directors meeting on February 27. He seemed fragile, but fully engaged and gung ho to be elected to another term at the ACT Annual Meeting a few weeks later. When he didn’t attend, I called the first thing the next morning and learned we lost him. He is irreplaceable, and we miss him greatly.
