Obituary for Clarence E. "Gene" Irion

Clarence E. "Gene"  Irion
Clarence E. "Gene" Irion, born in Ames, Iowa on June 27th, 1926, passed away in Acton, MA on March 12, 2018 at the age of 91. He was a longtime former resident of Montclair, New Jersey.

He was the loving and devoted husband of Eleanor H. Irion (Hanson), who shared their lived together for almost 67 years. She survives him along with their daughters, Martha T. Irion of North Pownal, Vermont, and Cynthia I. Overgaag of Acton, MA. He was the proud Opa of his grandchildren, Molly P. Overgaag and Thomas W. Overgaag.

He served honorably in the US Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WWII.

Gene graduated from Purdue University in 1955, where he received his BS in Aeronautical Engineering. He pursued his passion for planes, trains, boats and automobiles while working with both Curtiss-Wright and John Deere companies.

Gene was sweet, generous and compassionate to all, and happiest while enjoying ice cream in front of a roaring fire.
