Obituary for Irwin Warren Beckman

Irwin Warren Beckman
Irwin Warren Beckman, of Acton and Otis, MA, passed away in his home in Nagog Village on Sunday, February 11, 2018. He was 75 years old. Known to his family and friends as Warren, Irv, Uncle Irv, and Pops, he was the son of Bernard and Shirley Beckman of New York City and the older brother of Gary and Marshall Beckman. Born and educated in New York City, Warren came to Acton via Rumford, RI, with his then wife Rachel and their son, Nicholas. After working for years at Digital Equipment Corporation as a Finance Manager, Warren, in his 50s, transitioned to a second career as a Certified Financial Planner.

Warren was passionate about so many things, but especially hiking, jazz, travel, art and museums, and golfing with his brother, Marshall. Most recently, Warren did a solo National Parks trip (including Death Valley in the summer!). And he always loved to be sommelier for his family and friends.

Warren’s fondest passion was the ballet, which he attended with frequency in New York City, Boston, and the Berkshires. During his lifetime, Warren saw all of the world’s major companies, but more significantly he imparted a love for the ballet to his son. Together they took in performances and talked ballet at every opportunity.

Above all, Warren was warm, kind, genuine, supportive, and loving to everyone he knew and met. And nothing was more important to him than his son, his family, and his friends. Warren truly was a mensch. He will forever be in the hearts of his son, brothers, nephews and nieces, family, and friends.

ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends will be received on Saturday, February 24, at Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave, (Rt 111) Acton, MA. Visiting hours will begin at 1pm and a celebration of life will begin at 2pm. Flowers may be sent to Acton Funeral Home or memorial contributions may be made to Tanglewood (bso.org) or Jacob’s Pillow (jacobspillow.org). Memorial page www.actonfuneralhome.com
