Obituary for Palo A. Peirce, Jr

ACTON: Palo A. Peirce, Jr., 82, of Acton and Falmouth, MA, died Feb. 2, 2018 in Weymouth, MA. He was the husband of the late Eileen F. (Barrett) Peirce, a Concord native to whom he was married for almost 50 years at the time of her passing in 2008.

Born in Passaic, NJ, he was the only child of the late Palo A. and Theresa (Marakowitz) Peirce. He earned an undergraduate degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a master’s degree from Northeastern University. An electrical engineer, he was the program manager for the civilian Electronic Systems Division at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, MA before retiring. Mr. Peirce was an avid skier, professional talker and questionable boater. He loved running, and completed 17 Boston Marathons and 31 Falmouth Road Races. A longtime member of the Acton Lions Club, he enjoyed time in Falmouth, particularly sunsets at the Chart Room.

He is survived by three children: Palo Peirce III of Acton, Cynthia Peirce Barney of Quincy, and Gary Peirce and wife Becca of Hingham; 8 grandchildren: Victoria and Alexander Barney, Palo IV and Lauren Peirce, and Robert, Katherine, Edward and Margaret Peirce.

Visiting hours are Wed. Feb. 7th from 5-8pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rt 111) Acton. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Thurs. Feb. 8th at 10:30am in Holy Family Church, 12 Monument Sq., Concord with burial in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Bedford St. (Rt 62) Concord.
