Obituary for Darlene F. (George) Reilly

Maynard, MA: Darlene F. (George) Reilly, 59, of Maynard, MA, died on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. She leaves her beloved husband of 29 years, James J. Reilly of Maynard.

Darlene was born in Concord, MA, daughter of the late William George and survived by her mother, Leona (Justinson) George of Maynard. She was raised in Maynard where she attended local schools and was a 1976 graduate of Maynard High School. She resided in Maynard most of her life and spent 10 years in Lancaster, MA. She was employed by the Raytheon Company for many years until she retired.

Besides her husband and mother, she leaves her daughter, Jamie Lee (Reilly) LaVoie and her husband Michael of Oxford, MA and was predeceased by her son Mike Reilly in 2013. She is also survived by her sister, Diane Laughrey and her husband Paul of Gardner, MA; her father-in-law, Joseph Reilly of Florida; her mother-in-law, Jacqueline Reilly of Maynard, MA; her several nieces and nephews along with many other relatives and close friends. She was the sister of the late David William George.

Darlene led a simple life of devotion to her family and friends. She found solace in helping and counseling others after her son Mike’s passing as an advocate in Overdose Awareness. She always enjoyed a good yard sale or as she so fondly referred to it as “Going Junkin.” The memories of her “berry hunts” for the wonderful Christmas decorations and collages she created will be cherished by all who loved and knew her. She will truly be missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday November 10th, 2017 from 4:00pm to 8:00 p.m. at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. All are encouraged to attend a Funeral Mass which will be celebrated on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Bridget’s Church, 1 Percival Street, Maynard, MA. Burial services will be held privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Darlene may be made to: Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Division of Development & The Jimmy Fund, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
