Obituary for Margaret A. "Ann" (Mercer) John (Mercer)

Margaret A. (Mercer) John, affectionately known as “Ann,” formerly of Boxborough, MA, died peacefully October 24, 2017 with family at her side.

The wife of 53 years to Walter F. John, she is also survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Martin and her husband David; Kathleen Leotta and her husband Sean; grandchildren, Michael Leotta, Sydney and Jonathan Martin; sister-in-law Dorothy Christmas and other very special family members, Peggy, Roy and Chelsea Hester.

Ann was born in Saginaw, MI, and graduated from the University of Michigan where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She earned her Master’s Degree at Case Western Reserve University. She was a highly intelligent woman who was an English teacher and librarian who had an extreme love for animals and enjoyed spending time with her family.

A very beautiful woman and an avid bridge player, she loved the outdoors and bird watching. An excellent cook she also enjoyed gardening, reading, classical music and tennis.

Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral service on Monday, October 30th, 2017 at noon in the United Church of Christ Congregational, 723 Massachusetts Ave, Boxborough, MA, with burial following in South Cemetery, Burroughs Road, Boxborough. Rev.Cindy Worthington-Berry will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Ann may be made to your favorite charity. Memorial page www.actonfuneralhome.com
