Formerly ACTON: Anna Sofie (Tyrholm) Kapstad, of Longboat Key, FL, formerly of Acton, MA, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017 at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington.

Anna was born and raised in Aalesund, Norway, daughter of the late Otto Petter Tyrholm and Alfhild Maria (Lundin). In 1970 Anna emigrated to the U.S. from Montreal, Canada residing in Boothbay Harbor, ME for a short time before settling in Acton. She spent 26 years in Acton until moving to Longboat Key, FL where she resided for the past 30 years.

Anna was married in 1954 to the late Odd Bjorn Kapstad and leaves her 3 sons, Jan Kapstad of Boxborough, MA, Bjorn Kapstad of Lancaster, MA, and Tore Kapstad of Arlington, MA, and her daughters-in-law, Kimberly, Elaine, and Kate. She leaves her 8 loving grandchildren, Kaarin, Kevin, Keleigh, Bjorn, Christian, Elizabeth, Jesse, and Lila along with her 4 adorable great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Cole, Brooklyn, and Van. She also leaves her sister Dora Hagen, brother-in-law Nils Petter Kapstad and his wife Turid, all of Norway, and many other relatives and friends.

Anna’s passion in life was raising her children and caring for her family. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, and cooking. She always looked forward to being with her family, especially later with her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a mom who was always there for her children and her kind and giving spirit. She will truly be missed by all who loved and knew her.

Funeral services will be held privately and are under the thoughtful guidance of Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rt 111) Acton, MA 01720.
