Obituary for Charles Kavaleski

Charles Kavaleski, 94, a lifelong resident of Maynard, Ma died unexpectedly Thurs. June 22, 2017 at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA.

He leaves his beloved wife of 70 years Mary P. (Howe) Kavaleski of Maynard along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loyal neighborhood friends. He was predeceased by his siblings, Anthony, Michael and John Kavaleski and Helen Bobnis.

Charles was born in Maynard, son of the late Joseph and Casmirka Kavaleski, He attended local schools and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1942. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific area during WWII and participated the battles of Rio-Namur, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima. Wounded in action in February of 1945 during the invasion of Iwo Jima, he was awarded the Purple Heart and honorably discharge in October, 1945. He spent 35 years as a dedicated employee of General Motors in Framingham until retiring in 1981.

Charles was an avid outdoorsman, and always looked forward to fishing and hunting trips throughout the year. He took great pride in the care of his home and enjoyed gardening and caring for his lawn in his spare time. He was proud to climb Mt. Washington at the age of 50. A legacy of devotion to family and friends, hard work, a youthful and giving spirit will be remembered by all who loved and knew him.

Family and friends are encouraged to attend a graveside service with military honors on Tues. June 27th 11:00am in Glenwood Cemetery, Great Rd (Rt 117 entrance) Maynard, MA.
