Obituary for Lucille (Valenti) Kress (Valenti)

Lucille V. (Valenti) Kress, 92, of Concord, former longtime resident of Acton, died on Monday, May 8th, 2017 in the care of the Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Residence in Wayland.

Lucille was the beloved wife of 66 years to the late Oscar L. Kress who died in 2012 and leaves her devoted children, Andrew Kress and his wife Joan of Sherborn, MA, Virginia Kress, Maryanne Mutty and her husband Stephen, Kathryn Taplett and her husband James, all of Alexandria, VA and Elizabeth Goodroe and her husband Michael of Bishop, GA. She was predeceased by her son, John J. Kress and daughter Karen (Kress) Nadeau. She also leaves her loving grandchildren, Jacob Kress, Jackson and Dean Forcier, Jack and Marisa Mutty, Michael and Madison Goodroe, Kyle and Kayla Kress along with many nieces and nephews.

Lucille was born in the Bronx section of New York, daughter of the late Santo and Virginia (Puzzo) Valenti. She resided in Acton most of her life until moving to Concord where she has spent the past several years. Lucille took great pride in the care of her home and raising her children in Acton. She was an active member in the Acton Woman’s Club and in her spare time she enjoyed studying history and listening to opera music. She also enjoyed attending an opera event whenever she could. Most of all Lucille cherished spending time with her family, especially visiting with her grandchildren. She will be forever remembered for her loving spirit and her devotion as a loving wife and caring mother and grandmother.

Visiting hours at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rt 111) Acton will be held on Friday, May 12th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 13th at 10:00 a.m. in the Holy Family Parish Church, 12 Monument Square, Concord, MA. Burial services will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Acton.
