Obituary for Dominic C. Niose

Dominic C. Niose
Dominic C. Niose, 87, of Lunenburg, formerly of Falmouth, Maynard, and Waltham, died on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Leominster Hospital, after a brief illness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Mary (Corcoran) Niose, daughter Donna Niose of Fredericksburg, Virginia, son David Niose and his wife Kathryn Niose of Lunenburg, 10 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Debra Mason, who passed away in 2002.

Born on September 11, 1929, to Antonio Niose and Giovannina (Beninati) Niose, Dominic was raised in Waltham and worked for many years as a machinist. He and Mary were married on July 4, 1952, and they raised their children in Maynard. In 1994 Dominic retired and he and Mary moved to Falmouth, where they resided until 2016 when they moved to Lunenburg. Dominic raced stock cars in the 1950s and was a skilled mechanic. A devoted husband and family man, he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and extended family. He was an avid gardener and proudly gave away much of the abundant harvest of vegetables from his garden every year to neighbors, family, and friends. For many years he and Mary were “snow birds,” spending winters in Florida, where they enjoyed visits from their vacationing children and grandchildren. Those who knew him remember Dominic as a kind, gentle person with a generous nature, strong work ethic, and warm heart.

The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 18th at 10:00am in St. Bridget’s Church, 1 Percival Street, Maynard, with burial following in Glenwood Cemetery, Great Road (Rt 117) Maynard. (There are no visiting hours.) Arrangements with Acton Funeral Home, memorial page www.actonfuneralhome.com
