Obituary for Barbara A. (Roberts) O'Clair

Barbara A. (Roberts) O’Clair, 82, of Pepperell and a former 56 year Acton resident, died peacefully Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. She was the loving wife of George R. “Jiggs” O’Clair, to whom she was married for almost 50 years at the time of his passing in 2000.

Born at home in Marlborough, she was the youngest of five children of the late Francis P. and Olivina M. (Donahue) Roberts. A graduate of Marlborough High School, Mrs. O’Clair taught preschool and kindergarten in the greater Acton area for over 20 years. She enjoyed bingo and going out to dinner with family and friends. A former member of Theatre III in Acton, she was a natural performer who loved to sing, dance and be on stage. She had a contagious laugh and a great sense of humor, and loved animals, especially her dog and constant companion, “Lucy.”

Mrs. O’Clair is survived by 4 children: Eileen Bailey and husband Mark of Pepperell, Kevin O’Clair of Pepperell, Brian O’Clair and wife Joan of Shirley, and Maureen Forbes of Leominster; grandchildren: Jeffrey, Lindsay and Ryan Bailey, Jessica and Danny O’Clair, and Kellyann and Stephen Forbes; and a large extended family. In addition to her husband, she joins her loved ones who passed before including her beloved grandson Michael O’Clair, her sisters Viola Cowan, Eileen Gregory and Marion Forance, and her brother Francis Roberts.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Friday, July 10th from 4:00-7:00pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. All are invited to gather at the Acton Funeral Home on Saturday, July 11th at 11:00am with funeral services at the funeral home at 12:00pm (noon). Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Central St., West Acton.
