Obituary for Barbara Mary Edwardsen (O'Toole)
Barbara Mary (O’Toole) Edwardsen, 82, a lifelong Maynard resident, died Monday, October 14, 2013 at her home with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Ronald J. Edwardsen, Sr., who died this past May, and the couple would have celebrated 65 years of marriage this October 31st.
Born and raised in Maynard, she was the daughter of the late Michael J. and Rose H. (Churchill) O’Toole. Mrs. Edwardsen was a loving wife and mother, and was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and decorating the family home for the holidays, and trips to Foxwoods and Las Vegas. She and her husband especially loved time spent at York Beach in Maine, and ballroom and square dancing.
She is survived by 6 children: Kathleen MacCulloch, Nancy Daigle, Ronald Jr., Richard and Michael Edwardsen, and Barbara “Buffy” Durant; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Dorothy M. Ferguson, and her late husband Edward.
Visiting hours are Wed. Oct. 16th from 5-7pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral Mass to be celebrated Thursday, October 17th at 9:00am in St. Bridget’s Church, 1 Percival Street, Maynard. Burial will follow in St. Bridget’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 460 Totten Pond Rd, Waltham, MA 02451.
