Barbara Alexander Walsh
Barbara Alexander Walsh, 86, a resident of Acton, MA for 56 years passed away on Friday, May 18th, 2018.
Beloved wife of 56 years to John A. Walsh who died in 2007, she leaves her children, Beverly Walsh Gobbi of Sanford, ME, Clifton J. Walsh of Shoreline, WA, David H. Walsh of Fitchburg, MA, Andrea N. Walsh of Barrington, NH and Daniel T. Walsh of Astoria, NY. Also survived by 4 grandchildren, Alicia Dunleavy, Brianna Verdolino, Liam Walsh, Jack Walsh; nephew Larry Buettner of Plymouth, MA along with her 5 great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Barbara was born in Malden, MA and raised in Georgetown, MA, daughter of the late Albert Alexander and Dorothy Rushlow. She attended the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston and worked at Beacon Communications in Concord, formerly in Acton for 23 years as an artist and proofreader. Prior to Beacon Communications, she was employed as a draftsman by the Gros-Ite Company in Farmington, CT. She spent time serving on the Cemetery Commission in Acton; volunteering at the election polls in Acton. She was a member of the South Acton Congregational Church and did various volunteer contributions in the past.
Barbara and husband John enjoyed trips to locations such as Portugal, England, Ireland, Paris, Nova Scotia and parts of the United States including Seattle, Texas and several other destinations. In her spare time, she enjoyed water colors, sewing, quilting and knitting. Her most treasured experiences where always with her family, especially later with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will truly be missed but never forgotten.
Visiting hours Tuesday, May 22nd 9-11am at Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rt. 111) Acton. A service will follow at 11am in the funeral home. Private burial to be held in South Byfield Cemetery, Georgetown, MA.
