Obituary for Italia (Marcon) Lattuca

Italia (Marcon) Lattuca passed away peacefully on February 7, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham, Massachusetts. She was the wife of the late Louis J. Lattuca with whom she was married to for 61 years.
Born May 15, 1921 in Udine, Italy. She was the daughter of the late Francesco and Luigia (Cudicio) Marcon and sister of the late Ernesto Marcon.

Italia is survived by her son Russell Lattuca and his late wife Janice of Natick, grandchildren Nicole Lattuca of Somerville, and John Lattuca of West Roxbury. She is predeceased by her son Daniel Lattuca of Pennsylvania.

Italia grew up in a small village in Italy. In her late teens she moved to Rome and worked as a nanny. During WWII she returned to Northern Italy, where she met her future husband, Louis Lattuca. They were married January 17, 1946. Italia boarded the SS Algonquin along with hundreds of war brides leaving Naples for New York City. She was the first war bride to arrive in Maynard, Massachusetts and became a Naturalized Citizen of the United States in 1957. In their retirement years, Italia and Louis traveled to Florida each winter. Italia’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. Above all, she loved cooking for, and eating with, her loved ones. Her lasagna was a fixture at every holiday dinner. Italia had a lifelong love of listening to many genres of music, especially opera. She was a prolific knitter of slippers, sweaters, and blankets.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. The funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. to be celebrated in St. Bridget’s Church, 1 Percival Street, Maynard. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Great Road (Rt 117) Maynard.
