Obituary for Louise E. (Finkle) Talbourdet

Louise E. (Finkle) Talbourdet, 90, a Maynard, MA resident for 57 years, died peacefully Tuesday July 4, 2017 at the Traditions of Wayland, MA She was the beloved wife of the late Guy J. Talbourdet, who passed away in 1994.

Born and raised in Great Barrington, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Lillian Finkle, and sister of the late Robert Finkle. She graduated from the local schools, and as a teenager served as a civilian airplane spotter during WWII. Mrs. Talbouret graduated from the nursing program at Malden Hospital, and worked as a nurse in the hospital's emergency room and in local physicians' offices. She continued her career at Suburban Manor in Acton and Rivercrest Deaconess LTC in Concord.

After their marriage the Talbourdets lived in Malden and Wakefield before moving to Maynard where they raised their four children. While the children were young Mrs. Talbourdet volunteered as a Girl Scout and 4H leader. A member of the choir at the Union Congregational Church in Maynard, she loved music and singing and especially enjoyed the weekly Wednesday evening choir rehearsals. Mr. and Mrs. Talbourdet liked to bowl and square dance, and were members of the Acton Square Wheelers and Natick Square Riggers. A highlight was dancing on the square dancing float in Maynard's Centennial Parade in 1971. Mrs. Talbourdet enjoyed knitting, crafts, puzzles, reading books and newspapers, playing cards and shopping. In later years she loved traveling worldwide. She was Emerson Hospital's oldest volunteer, knitting hats for children undergoing cancer treatments.

She is survived by her children: Robert Talbourdet and wife Linda, Joanne Delaney and husband Tim, Lynn Nelson and husband Wayne, and Pamela Alper and husband David; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-granddaughters.

Funeral services and burial in Glenwood Cemetery are private. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Mrs. Talbourdet's name to Traditions of Wayland, Attn: Eileen Blizzard - Residents Fund, 10 Green Way, Wayland, MA 01778 and on the memo line please add "In memory of Louise Talbourdet."
