Obituary for Robert W. White

Robert W. White
Robert Wesley White, 88 years of age, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband for 65 years to Doris E. White and devoted father of Paul W. White and Wendy White Levy; proud grandfather of Erika L. Wexler, Robert S. Levy, Alexandra M. Levy, Holly E. White and Christine M. White; and great grandfather to Joshua L. Wexler. He was predeceased by his brother Marvin, sisters Jean and Ruth and by his son Jonathan and daughter Terry. He is also survived by his brother George White from Maryland

Robert was born in New Brighton, Pa. on December 8, 1928 to Isabella (Hill) White and George White and enlisted in the Navy in 1946 where he served as an Aviation Electronics Airman until his discharge in 1949. He then enrolled at the University of Wisconsin where he studied and graduated with a Bachelor degree in mathematics. He attended many years of night school honing his skills and worked for many aerospace and engineering companies until he retired from Raytheon in 1993.

Robert was passionate about computers and worked on the original main frames from the 1960’s and wrote many computer programs for work and pleasure. Healso built a telescope which is still in operation and which is especially loved by his grandson Robert S. Levy. Robert was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2016 and had undergone treatments at Emerson Hospital for several months. He developed complications and after being in the hospital for a week he sadly succumbed to his illness.

Services for Robert will be held Tuesday April 25th at 11:00am at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rt 111) Acton, MA. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Concord Road, Acton Center. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the following organization: “Aid For Cancer Research”, P.O.
