Obituary for Jean M. (Puffer) Piecewicz

MAYNARD: Jean M. (Puffer) Piecewicz, 86, a lifelong Maynard resident, died unexpectedly Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Emerson Hospital in Concord. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles F. Piecewicz, who passed away in 1987.

Born in Concord, MA she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Puffer. Jean graduated from the Peter Bent Brigham School of Nursing and worked as an LPN at the Deaconness Hospital and in private duty nursing before retiring to raise her family. Devoted wife of "Big Charlie" or better known around Maynard as "Popcorn Charlie", she loved helping him run his concessions business and they were a familiar fixture at all the Maynard High School football games and at events around town and on the local 4H circuit. Jean loved her garden, her home and her family; she cherished being a grandmother and before she passed, had the thrill of learning that she was to become a great-grandmother. Even though she will not get to meet this little one, we know that she will be a special guardian angel.

Mrs. Piecewicz is survived by her daughter Kerin M. Horrigan and her beloved grandchildren: Liam, Kiernan and Aidan Horrigan. The wife of the late Charles, she was the sister of Barbara M. McGee who predeceased her in 2012, and her nephew Jim McGee in 2014. She leaves her nephew Jack McGee of Groton MA, great nephew Charles Cullinane and his wife Meaghan and their two children Duncan and Neeley of Portsmouth NH, great niece Kerry McGee and her boyfriend Matt Kelleher and their children Connor and Layla of Groton MA, her great nephew Brendan McGee and wife Kara of Stoughton MA, all of who were the light of her life and she loved dearly.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 5th at 10:00am in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Great Road (Rt 117) Maynard. Following the service, a collation will be held at Jean and Kerin's home at 67 Great Road, everyone is cordially welcome. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Edward W. Horrigan memorial fund, details of which will be posted soon.
